Purpose and When to Use This Checklist
This reference operationalizes Step 2 of the AI Use Case Intake Process: Screen for Basic Feasibility.
Use this 15-minute pre-screen after an idea has been submitted via the structured form (Step 1) and before you apply the weighted scoring model and Five Dimensions (Step 3).
Your goals in the pre-screen:
- Eliminate ideas that are clearly out of scope, technically infeasible, or misframed as AI problems
- Clarify borderline ideas just enough to decide "pass to scoring" vs. "eliminate / park"
- Avoid deep solutioning, architecture, or risk assessment — those happen later in the process
Important
Time-box yourself: this is a 15-minute review, not a mini-discovery project. If you cannot answer a question quickly from the submission or 1–2 quick messages with the requester, mark it as "needs refinement" rather than rewriting the use case.
15-Minute Pre-Screen Flow
Run these four quick passes in order. Stop when you hit a clear elimination decision.
- 01Scope check — Is it in scope for AI and this intake channel?
- 02Problem framing check — Is this actually an AI problem vs. a process / IT / reporting issue?
- 03Technical feasibility check (at a glance) — Is there a plausible path with data and current capabilities?
- 04Decision — Pass to scoring, return for clarification, eliminate/park.
